When the Nemo Underwater Drill won the Seawork Innovation Award last year, the Fairlocks team didn’t think the Nemo tools could get much better... but they were wrong! At the Pool and Spa Awards held in Birmingham last month, the Nemo Underwater Grinder was awarded the Gold Standard for Product of the Year 2016. A truly award winning duo!
Sharron Davies, MBE, presented Paul and the team with the award for the underwater grinder in recognition of its innovative technology and its potential in the marketplace. There was obviously a gap in the market for such a tool, as in the first year since launch the Nemo Underwater Grinder has proved to be incredibly popular, with record-number of orders across the UK, particularly within the swimming pool engineering trade.
The Nemo Angle Grinder was developed due to customer demand for a light-weight, submersible, cordless angle grinder. It has a maximum operating depth of 50m (164ft) and its 1500-watt brushless technology ensures maximum efficiency and durability. It is equipped with a dead man’s switch that automatically turns off the tool if it is dropped.
The Nemo drill was developed originally for use in the maritime industry, but has proven to be in high demand for use in the swimming pool industry. It has been tested to depths up to 50m and operates at the same capacity as the traditional dry-land version. Up until now underwater or wet-condition drilling has been limited to either pneumatic or hydraulically powered drills, which require a link to a compressor and tank on the surface or an external tank below. The Nemo drill does not require either.
The Nemo tools are developed under the toughest conditions and stand up to a high level of performance testing. The drill and the grinder are the first tools in a long line of development opportunities to come on to the market, and Fairlocks are proud to be the UK distribution partner at the forefront of the innovation.
It has turned out to be quite a celebratory year, with Fairlocks reaching the 10 year milestone, and receiving awards for their pioneering and highly effectual products. What a privilege to operate in such a great industry where there is so much scope for innovation and development.
